The Cirque du Soleil will show the charms of Mexico in its next performance

Mexico will project its image thanks to the Luzia performance which evoques its history and culture produced by Cirque du Soleil. The staging is the first in the history of the company, inspired by a country and in this particular case Mexico is the main character.

Luzia will travel through 450 cities around the world for the next seven years at least. An agreement was signed with the Cirque du Soleil through the Promotion Tourist Board of Mexico, CPTM, in Montreal, Canada, in order to develop a show inspired by the Mexican history, music and culture, which will be visiting different cities as part of its project portfolio over the next seven years.  The Mexican Secretary of Tourism, Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, entered with an agreement with Cirque du Soleil for the purpose of generating a marketing platform in order to promote the image of Mexico within the international markets. Thus, as part of the Government’s strategy is to identify high-visibility projects that contribute to the spread of the Mexican tourist wealth in various world scenarios. The investment in this Project is $ 47.4 million, which will give the worldwide exposure to Mexico and will be settled over five years.

The name chosen by Cirque du Soleil is Luzia that refers to the fusion of the Spanish words rain and light in which elements the show is based.
