Jet2holidays hires detectives to clamp down on false claims from holidaymakers

Tour operator Jet2Holidays aims to put a halt to the floods of false claims from holidaymakers who summer after summer try to con tour operators or hotels into reimbursing the cost of their holidays through bogus claims.

The company has announced that it will have private detectives stationed in several resorts this summer, and their job is to report fraudulent activities to both Jet2holidays and the local police.

Some hotels have previously reported that there are claims management companies (CMCs) trying to encourage holidaymakers to recoup the cost of their holiday by making false claims or by buying medication at a pharmacy and claiming they have food poisoning.

The problem of false claims is increasing every summer and is now considered a fraud by the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
