FITUR’s director honoured by the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies

The wholesalers MAPATOURS was also awarded the Distintivo Turístico Matilde Torres Award

The Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV in Spanish) has awarded Ana Larrañaga, the FITUR director, with the Distintivo Turístico Matilde Torres Award for her professional work and “her contribution to tourism development, enhancement and promotion”.

CEAV also granted MAPATOURS wholesalers, controlled by the brothers, Carlos and Alberto Díaz, with the same award.

Casino de Madrid has been chosen as the setting for the awards ceremony to take place on October 13th with more than 90 of the world’s leading professionals from the tourism sector expected to attend the event.

CEAV, presided by Rafael Gallego, started the award ceremony four years ago to honour Matilde Torres, a renowned tourism professional, and the founder and managing director of Catai Tours, who developed a more than fruitful career in the sector and played an active role in the associative approach to travel agencies in Spain.

Founded in 2005, CEAV has managed to unite practically all the Spanish associations of travel agencies, currently, there are 19 in the confederation, with more than 3000 companies, almost 50,000 employees and a turnover of €15,000 million.

Profiles

Ana Larrañaga, Diploma in Marketing, has been the FITUR director since 2001 and has played an active role in the IFEM for the last 20 years. She also coordinates the Feriarte and Almoneda fairs.

Carlos and Alberto Díaz founded MAPATOURS in 1991, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary. More than 125,000 people travelled with their company in 2015.
