The majestic mountains of Fujairah

Fujairah is a country of extreme beauty. Its history, beaches, mountains and weather make this place an exotic paradise for tourists.

From here at Lookout, we want to take you this time to the beautiful Fuyaira, as it is called in Arabic, or Fujairah, as is also known. This enclave is one of the seven emirates that comprise the United Arab Emirates since 1971. With an area of 1,150km2 and 130,000 inhabitants, it is divided int two main areas, separated on the east coast, covering the whole of the vast Gulf of Oman.

Since the waters of the Persian Golf in Fujairah are colder, the city has been unable to benefit from the natural pearl fishing. Recently, Fujairah has been transformed into a port as part of its project to achieve the development of tourism.

Visiting the emirate of the East Coast means crossing the desert, as we get to see up close the oasis of Al Daid and Masafi. Here, a stop in our journey is required. The famous “Friday Market” is a must on the list of activities.

Then, we follow the route through the Hajar Mountains. Again, spectacular views will slowly embrace us, making us fall in love with the area as we move forward. Hajar mountains impact us with stunning views of the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Oman.

The next stop is Dibba, an authentic fishing village where you can relax and enjoy the typical local gastronomy. Of course, there are water activities to enjoy, sports that include snorkeling and scuba diving.

We can not miss the oldest mosque in the Emirates, built in 1446: the Bidiyah Mosque. If we continue our journey along the coast, we will reach Khor Fakkan, delving deep int the Emirate of Fujairah.

FFujairah amazes us mostly because it is the only one of the United Arab Emirates that is almost entirely made out of a mountain system. Hajjar mountains separate Fujairah from the rest of the country. The mountain got its name from the Arabic word “Mountains of Rock.” They are not very high mountains but on the way from Masafi, going by plane at the height of about 450 meters, and from Diba Al Hisn, on the coast of the ocean, the road is based on a level of 200-550 meters between the mountains, which rise up to between 500 and 990 meters. In fact, it is there where we will find the Jabal Dad Mountain, the highest peak in the area.

This is a very picturesque road, where we can find the canyons between the huge rocks. Normally, the bus tours make a stop here for the visitors to admire the spectacular views of the canyons from the mountain area.

BlueBay Group has the great luxury resort Blue Diamond Fujairah. The resort allows us to enjoy the beaches and majestic mountains in the area. An exotic land for tourists for its weather conditions and its history. Fujairah has a wide offer. Its strategic location, excellent roads and accessibility to major shipping routes account for an emerging country, where entrepreneurs come, increasingly opting for growth and development.
