Mexico is the number one spring travel destination for North Americans according to a review of data from February through April collected by travel insurance provider Allianz Global Assistance.
Based on airport arrivals tied to one million client trips between late February and early April, more than 30 percent of Allianz clients traveled to Mexico, significantly out-pacing Puerto Rico, the next most popular destination.
Other international destinations listed among the top 10 among the firm’s clients included the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, Canada, Jamaica, Aruba, the Netherland Antilles, and the Turks and Caicos islands. Among domestic destinations, the top three for spring vacations were Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and New York.
“Mexico is the ultimate spring break destination, especially with so much to offer for all types of travelers, like great beaches and coastlines, delicious food and culture,” said Joe Mason, Allianz’ chief marketing officer.
