New Crossover Models in 2016

The International Motor Show in Frankfurt is historically the main exhibition of cars from Germany and one of the largest in Europe and, by extension, the world, celebrated at the end of September every two years (the odd numbers). It is – how could it be otherwise – the show where manufacturers display their full arsenal of vehicles. In this issue, LookOut gives you the close up on the latest developments presented by different brands in their range of 2016 crossover models or SUVs.

Bentley Bentayga

The first SUV of the British firm promises luxury and all the virtues that we expect to find in a Bentley, which will obviously add some off-road capabilities. Bentayga designers have drawn a body that tries to fit the rugged look of an SUV with the timeless elegance the Bentley boasts. In this sense, the new model inherits the main identifying features of the brand, such as the large rectangular metal grille, four round headlights, chrome-edge tail lights and almost vertical tailgate halfway towards the bottom. The interior holds no surprises, allowing you to breathe in perfectly recognizable surroundings, elegant and sporty at the same time.
The arrival of Bentayga to the market will occur in early 2016.

Volkswagen Tiguan

Aparece en escena la segunda generación del SUV compacto de Volkswagen. Un mThe second generation of Volkswagen compact SUV appears on the scene. A completely new model, which grows in all dimensions except total height. This slight change in proportions is accompanied by a deep aesthetic redesign, which gives the new Tiguan a more compact and muscular appearance. This makeover has been made from two key points: raising the waistline to decrease the glass surface, together with the adoption of a frontal whose parallel lines give a great sense of width. What surprises (by departing from the usual rigidity of the brand’s design) are the taillights, which are now of LED series type.
The next-generation Tiguan comes to our market in April 2016.

Jaguar F-PACE

The Jaguar F-Pace is the new vehicle that will be added in 2016 to the range of the British manufacturer. This new car will be outlined as a five-seat sports crossover, whose technical basis is the new aluminum platform, essentially the same as that of the XE. The most practical sports car by Jaguar combines spectacular performance and intuitive technologies with its class-leading functionality. The new Jaguar is based on the C-X17 prototype awarded the prize for best design prototype at the Automotive Interiors Expo 2014 in Stuttgart. Built on the foundation of the lightweight aluminum, Jaguar F-PACE maintains the benefits that characterize the DNA of the brand.

Borgward BX7

It looks like a Renault but it is not. The diamond is also the shape of the brand’s original emblem. Borgward, a German brand that, before World War II, achieved a remarkable name and built good cars after the war and until his disappearance due to financial problems in 1961, comes to life in the hands of a Chinese company named Foton, and with a product adapted to current tastes in world’s major markets: a premium SUV of medium-large size.

The firm has resurrected the BX7 presented in Frankfurt and will seek to become a modest foothold in the Chinese market for luxury SUVs and then storm the European market by end of 2016, a projected date for that aim. The idea of the brand is to compete with models like the BMW X3, Volvo XC60, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche Macan GLC.
