Set off to Tangier…

We propose a curious route from Marbella, the pearl of the Costa del Sol, with a final destination in Morocco. There will be a bit of everything: cheetahs, buffalo, golf clubs, the occasional monkey and windsurfers. If you read it all as it is, it may seem a passage from “Alice in Wonderland” but will gradually start making sense…

The starting point of our adventure is in Marbella. We check out from BlueBay Banús**** and we set off in a car headed east, towards Estepona. The first stop we recommend is Selwo Aventura, a theme park and zoo that will delight the youngest members of the family. The place occupies 100 hectares and is home to over 2,000 animals from five continents. These include majestic specimens of cheetah, European bison, giraffe, brown bear, white rhino and even the fearsome Bengal tiger.

A few kilometers later we recommend a stop in Sotogrande (San Roque). This is a luxurious development equipped with a first-class sports facilities. If you’re a golf lover you are in luck because this enclave has 5 top-class golf courses, among which stands out El Campo de Valderrama. This space is considered one of the best courses in Europe as well as having hosted major professional tournaments including the prestigious international Ryder Cup.

Besides this, it is one of the main epicenters for polo practice on the planet. Among the competitions held there annually stand out the International Polo Tournament, organized for over 40 years by the exclusive Santa María Polo Club. Another attraction of Sotogrande is its complete and equipped marina, also home to multiple events and competitions related to sailing at the highest level.

Before diving into the Arab culture you can make a small dip in the more “British” world making a stop in Gibraltar. There you can fatten your Instagram with the typical red booths, an occasional scowling “bobby,” or fight off monkeys trying to steal your food or mobile phone.

A few kilometers further east you will find Tarifa, the southernmost city in Europe. There you can practice any water sport related to the wind thanks to its powerful and incessant blow. In the city you can find a diverse offer of operation hours of high-speed boats that will take you to the port of Tangier in just over 30 minutes.

Once there you just have to face a difficult choice of a place to stay: Le Royal El Minzah Hotel by Bluebay***** or Villa de France Hotel by Bluebay*****. And we say difficult because both establishments are on par regarding prestige, quality, luxury and service in the city. So, since you’re on vacation and do not need to worry your head with such thing, just pick a coin from your pocket and let the fate decide.
