Marbella Starlite melts to Santana’s guitar

The legendary Mexican guitarist displayed his power in an impressive show of more than two hours in front of an audience totally commited to him. Carlos Santana’s guitar hung the first “sold” in Starlite 2016  at a concert full of surprises.

The night had all the ingredients needed for a great musical evening like the ones Starlite it is providing Marbella for the past summers. The temperature was ideal. The stand was fully crowded. The beautiful and popular people began to fill the seats. On the screens of the auditorium of Nagüeles was clearly visible the logo of the legendary Santana.

The lights go down and begin to be seen images of historic Woodstock festival in the late 60 where young Santana appear as one of the most important guitars on the planet. Live music begins to play and the Aztec guitarist shows on stage with an overwhelming energy to interpret “Soul Sacrific”, which hit stores last April. Santana played also is unmistakable and new songs like “Love Makes the world go round” or “Freedom in your mind” delight the audience.

After a brilliant start of three themes, Santana took the microphone to address the crowd in one of his many speeches “new age” key. At the first one he said “we will transform, to enlighten and elevate this world so dark”. But gradually the guitarist was heating up like the public who enjoyed legendary songs like “Samba Pa Ti”, ” Corazón Espinado ” or “Black Magic Woman”.

Carlos Santana was comfortable over the Marbella scenario. He proved again taking the microphone to remember that even the all-powerful owner of Apple, Steve Jobs, could not buy a second of your life with hundreds and hundreds of millions. A harangues that ended devoting “all the women, my sisters” to start a standing ovation from the public with the first chords of the well-known “María, María “.

The first surprise of the concert was triggered after another Mexican harangues in which he stated to say that “what I like most about Spain are the gypsies” after what he invited on stage to the gaditana Niña Pastori . The singer, at all times sheltered by Santana, played “Black Angels ” with his usual guitarist under the watchful eye of the Mexican musician who did not hesitate a second to participate in the magic moment with his guitar.

The second surprise of the evening was another tribute to Spanish music but this time with a marked blues embodied in Madrid guitarist Javier Vargas. The leader of Vargas Blues Band rocked the guitar lovers with the performance of his hit “Get it out”. After lifting the entire audience with what seemed his last theme, the well-known “Oye cómo va” wizard of Latin jazz Tito Puente, Santana returned to the stage to close its passage by Starlite Marbella with his songs “Smooth ” and “Love, peace and happiness ” after what he introduced the members of his band.

Among them was his current wife, a regular collaborator with Lenny Kravitz, Cindy Blackman. It was also brilliant the performance on bass of Benny Rietveld, a regular with Miles Davis, who also delighted the audience. A perfect Starlite night where gathered several personalities from the world of television and spectacle as the Cuban musician Chucho Valdes, Pepe Navarro, Alejandra Prat and Agustín Bravo presenters, along with the always classic locals like Gunilla Von Bismarck and her husband Luis Ortiz.
