Tenerife, the golf capital of the world

Tenerife has turned these days into the world capital of golf by becoming the headquarters of the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM), from 5 to 8 October, attended by over 1000 delegates, 140 tour operators and a hundred journalists.

The event has as its headquarters the Magma Arte & Congresos in Costa Adeje, and the program, besides the undeniable presence of golf, has included visits to landmarks, including Teide National Park and La Laguna – both World Heritage Sites by Unesco, as well as various activities, like whale watching or the chance to taste the original and delicious island cuisine.

The designation of the island is the result of hard work that the public and private sectors related to golf, including golf, hotel establishments and other companies, the Tenerife Cabildo through Turismo de Tenerife and the Canary Islands Government – Promotur, have developed in recent months and even years to host the event.

The event has presented itself as one of the great opportunities that the organizing destinations have to show their qualities as vacation spots focused primarily on the practice of this sport.

The IGTM brings together destinations and large golf holiday buyers such as tour operators, wholesalers, travel agents or booking portals. Among the countries of origin of the participants are Germany, the Netherlands, United States, China, Russia, UAE and India.
