Google responds to demands from parents wishing to avoid their children watching inappropriate content

Catching your child watching content they really shouldn’t be viewing on YouTube after you left them watching innocent Disney cartoons is something that has happened to most parents at least once. Google has taken note and done something about it to keep parents’ minds at ease.

To avoid uncomfortable situations for parents and inappropriate content for children the tech giant has developed the YouTube Kids app and it’s now available to download in Spain since last Wednesday (13/07/2016), meaning parents can now rest easier as of today. The app is specifically designed for children from 2-8 years of age.

With an easy to use interface and big-icons, YouTube Kids makes it easier for children to access content that is fun and safe for children in 4 categories: Programmes, Music, Learning, and Exploring.

Parents can now control several options such as a timer to limit children’s screen time, volume control, additional search filters apart from those automatically set by the app, and opinions in order to improve and adapt the app to both parents and children’s needs.

The app currently has cartoons like Ben and Holly, Peppa Pig and Caillou, music programmes like Pica Pica, Familia Telerín, the well-known Little Baby Bum and several other learning programmes.
