7 essential make-up tips for autumn/winter

The arrival of the new season means it’s time to change your wardrobe — and it’s also the moment to update your make-up bag. Go-to summer colours and cleansers give way to new beauty routines and the latest products.

LookOut Magazine has picked the essential make-up tricks and products you need to stay on trend this autumn/winter:

  1. Always invest in a great eyeshadow palette. Go for brown tones for a more classic look, or if you’re feeling daring, try a neon range.
  1. Find a great black eyeliner pencil or cream eyeliner. We recommend MAC — both their Feline eye pencil and Black Black eyeliner — because they’re all over this season’s trend: black, the blacker the better. Eyes are smoky and smudged, very dark, very black.
  1. This season, lipsticks are in dark, blackish reds — or fun splashes of colour like electric blue. This season’s big new trend is Ombré Lips, with graduated shading, playing with different tones to create lips with volume. You’ll find an incredible range of shades from NYX.
  1. To minimise the impact of cold temperatures and wind, don’t forget to stock up on a high quality facial moisturiser. Always pick one that works with your skin type.
  1. Glitter and sparkle! The shimmery look is in, for lips and eyes.
  1. Apply face, hair and body masks. A little extra hydration is always a good thing during autumn and winter.
  1. Try statement eyelashes with colourful mascaras: aquamarine, bubblegum pink or turquoise – you decide!
