With the increasing popularity of mini drones or tiny drones, some of them at very affordable prices, it is no wonder that we are seeing more people in parks, touristic and recreational venues, and practically everywhere handling the controls of their small devices. And with its popularity are also raised debates on how to regulate its use to avoid problems of invasion of privacy, or ensure security in restricted areas such as airports.
Due to this, last May 24 with the launch of its new Spark model, DJI, one of the most popular brands producing drones, is requiring its users, owners of both old and new models, to register their data and activate their accounts on the DJI site. The company also recommends registering the equipment with the local aeronautical authorities in each country.
If users do not activate their DJI accounts, the equipment will not have correct access to the geo-spatial information and flight functions of each region causing operation restrictions for their devices, live video transmission system will be disabled, and the flight will be limited to a radius of 50 meters (164 feet) and up to 30 meters (98 feet) in height.
The company DJI bets to raise awareness among its clients on the controlled use of drones, as it launches a model that could be above its competitors in the mini-drones category, since the small and light Spark is controlled almost completely by hand gestures, feature that makes it very user friendly, in addition to having a fairly affordable cost, which could turn this device a favorite among “selfie” lovers.
