Star Wars VII, the phenomenon returns

There is a day marked in red on the calendar of millions of people worldwide. A day fans have been dreaming of since 1983, when George Lucas ended the space saga of the Skywalker family with Return of the Jedi. Yes, it is true that years later, we know everything that happened in that very, very distant galaxy before the sacred trilogy, but what comes next is fireworks. We enter uncharted waters. The date is December 18, the arrival of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Lucas himself has already seen the film and has given its opinion. We are going to tell you everything but we cannot keep quiet, we must say it before this article ends: May the force be with you…

First, let’s talk about what will happen in the new trilogy. It has been over thirty years since the defeat of the Galactic Empire and the redemption of Darth Vader. A New Republic, fragile and unstable, governs the galaxy but the rise of a mysterious warrior named Kylo Ren poses a grave threat to the galactic peace. The sinister Ren aims to restore the Empire and build a new Death Star to continue the legacy of the dark Sith warriors.

But the classical heroes of the saga are still alive and kicking, and willing to face this new threat. This time Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C-3PO, will enlist the help of new characters like Finn, a renegade imperial soldier, rebel pilot Poe Dameron and the mysterious Rey, a young woman of uncertain origins, accompanied by a cute ball droid called BB-8.

Together they embark on an epic struggle between good and evil, punctuated by several mysteries and plots. Surely you suspect what one of the major mysteries is. One of the best kept secrets by the Disney factory is none other than the whereabouts and role in this new trilogy of the most powerful Jedi left in the galaxy, Luke Skywalker.

In charge of giving new life to the Star Wars universe has been the visionary American director, JJ Abrams. Responsible for phenomena such as the television series Lost, or revitalizing the Star Trek saga on the big screen, Abrams takes over the fate of the most iconic characters of fiction in the history of science fiction films in a risky and, at the same time, exciting enterprise. The level of demand from fans of the saga will be overwhelming. Mind you, Abrams may well climb to the heavens or fall in the toughest of hells.

One to have already seen the most anticipated film of the year is the biological father of the child, George Lucas, who had absolutely no role or responsibility in the creation of this new film. His reaction was not exactly effusive, but rather correct, avoiding any controversy or conditioning for the millions of fans who count the hours until 18 December. Lucas has simply stated this: “I think the fans will love it. It is basically the kind of film they have longed for. ”

The chosen words are not innocent, there might conceal a thorn. Many see it as envy, resentment and occasional veiled message. One explanation is that he has explicitly referred to the “fans” in his statement, these being mostly avid “haters” of the prequels, the retouching of the original trilogy and sworn enemies of creatures like the Ewoks and Jar Jar Binks. So sarcasm and double meanings are served. His words may sound a bit like “there you have a bit of simple entertainment you have always wanted.”

Interpretations aside, Lucas’ words are linked to other recent statements of his, asserting that both Disney and Lucasfilm had rejected his script ideas for Episodes VII, VIII and IX with the excuse that they wanted to “do something by and for fans.” This provoked an angry response from the Californian director stating that “people do not understand that Star Wars is really a saga that revolves around family issues, not spaceships.”

What everyone knows is that the success of The Force Awakens is guaranteed. Tickets to its world premiere at the major cinemas in the world have sold out months ago. The huge merchandising machinery has been moving for months and JJ Abrams cannot help rubbing their hands, thinking about the flood of millions of dollars ahead.
