Several times recognized as the best golf destination in the world by modality magazines and international associations of specialized tour operators, the Algarve does justice to this distinction maintaining foolproof quality.

With a privileged climate that allows year-round play and a variety of fields, nearly forty, the region is a paradise for golfers.

Most of the fields are located in preserved areas with stunning views. They are internationally recognized for the quality of their facilities, whose architecture bears the signature of prestigious players and legendary champions such as Sir Henry Cotton, Rocky Roquemore, Arnold Palmer and Ronald Fream.

To all this we must add excellent professionals, a wide network of hotels and good ways of access, from direct air links to various destinations in the world, to easy transfers between the International Airport of Faro and different complexes.

The fields are distributed end to end in the region. At the seaside or inland, flat or hilly, lots to choose from, but any of them will give us several birdies and eagles, and who knows, maybe even a hole in one. Entre Lagos, Sagres and Monchique mountains there are circuits with various levels of difficulty, where the greens and fairways are framed by beautiful scenery.

In late 2014, Portugal has walked away with the most important awards of the first edition of the World Golf Awards (WGA), equivalent to the “Oscars” of tourism, but specializing in golf: “the best golf destination in Europe” and “the best golf destination in the world”. The allocation of the distinctions was due in large part to the excellence of the golf courses in the Algarve, as recognized by the organizers. And this is not new to the Algarve region, as it has received numerous awards in this tourism sector (in November 2013 it was named the “European golf destinatio 2014” by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators – IAGTO).

The World Golf Awards were instituted this year and integrated into the already well-known World Travel Awards, which have existed since 1993. To celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism industry, which according to the organization of the WGA will be responsible for about 600 million golfer visits to the 32,000 golf courses and resorts in the world.
