Up to 1.2 million travellers in Costa del Sol during the first four-month period

Turismo Costa del Sol’s president, Elías Bendodo, confirmed recently that the increasing of overnight stays from January to April, reached about 2%, giving an impulse to economy and employment in Málaga.

Costa del Sol reaches an increasing touristic results once again. According to overnight stays at hotel, occupancy, employment, travelers and airports passengers, along 2015, up to 1.2 million of tourists have been registered in hotels. This results highlights the increasing of 2.6% compared to the first four-month period last year. At the same time, overnight stays increased up to 2%, this is 84.834 more than in 2014.

Bendodo points out last four months with constant increasing are being brought along the last two years. The number of travelers and overnight stays registered this year, wasn’t reached since 2008. It’s essential to stress the advances for economy as well as for employment in Málaga.

According to hotel’s staff, the National Institute of Statistics, indicates the increasing is given with 9.013 people working during the last four months. It’s around 300 more people employed compared to the same period last year. The hotel occupancy rate increases up to 48% with a stay average of 3.5 days.

National reports are as positive as in Málaga. The numbers highlight the increasing of travelers to hotels in 23 million and 69.4 million overnight stays which it means and increasing of 5% and 3% respectively.

According to the Touristic Movements in Frontiers (Frontur) published recently, up to 16 million of international tourists have visited Spain during the first four-month period. This is 4.4% more than the last year. About 53% of these arrivals come from United Kingdom, France and Germany. However, relatively, main year-on-year increasing come from Italy, U.S.A., Ireland, Switzerland, Belgium, Japan, South Korea and China.
