The Basque Culinary Center (BCC), together Azti and Neiker, has launched the first Gastronomic Sciences Doctorate Programme to train researchers in the field of food sciences and business management, which begins in January 2020.

The doctorate programme is part of the Basque Government’s Strategic Plan for Food and Gastronomy (PEGA) and the University of Copenhagen will also participate in the programme, the BCC reported in a press release on Monday.

The doctorate can be done over three years on a full-time basis (with the possibility of extending it by two years), or on a part-time basis over five years (with the possibility of extending it by three years).

The programme includes a team of Food Science researchers who will focus on areas such as sustainability, sensory analysis and health and another group that focuses on Management, Society and Culture.
