The ITB international fair in Berlin is back again for another year, and once again faces the challenge of increasing both the number of visitors and volume of business.

According to Messe Berlin, the volume of business last year reached €7000 million (4.4% more than 2015), and 180,000 visitors came to the fair. This year, the organisation hopes to improve on these figures.

One of the new additions to this year’s edition is the special area for responsible tourism and adventure and ecological travel to coincide with the International Year of Sustainable Tourism.

And once again, Spain is one of the countries most strongly represented at the fair. The Costa del Sol alone has invested €50,000 in its presence at the fair and also has an advertising campaign running on the public transport network in the city.

Malaga is the second province in Spain with more German tourists, exceeding a total of 314,000 travellers. And the number of Germans who visited the Costa del Sol last year was up 4.3% compared to the previous year.
