New activity kits, cuddly toys and special children’s meal boxes with the new Oryx Kids Club mascots are the new services on selected flights that allow the airline’s youngest passengers and their families to enjoy a fun packed trip.

Qatar Airways has announced the launch of the new Oryx Kids Club, which offers a better experience for younger passengers with cuddly toys, new activity packs, and children’s meal boxes designed with the new Oryx Kids Club mascots.

Children travelling on long-distance routes can enjoy the flight with their favourite Oryx Kids Club hero mascots: Orry and Orah the Oryx and their three furry friends – Kamil the camel, Faaiz the falcon and Farah the desert fox. The programme will be extended to long-haul flights from July 1, 2018, and short and medium distance flights from September 1, 2018.

Qatar Airways Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Salam Al Shawa said: “At Qatar Airways we’re always looking to improve the travel experience for our passengers of all ages. We especially want to ensure that flying is as enjoyable as possible for children and families. These new exclusive onboard toys, kits and meal boxes with the superheroes of the Oryx Kids Club hero mascots, along with the Oryx One in-flight entertainment system will ensure our youngest passengers are entertained from the moment they step on board the plane”.

In March, the airline introduced the new Oryx Kids Club hero mascots, designed to inspire and excite children when they fly, and make Qatar Airways the airline of choice for families. The newly designed cuddly toys, activity kits and children’s meals will put even more fun into flying with Qatar Airways for children.

Qatar Airways will also soon launch the Oryx Child Loyalty Programme for children between the ages of two and eleven, offering them the opportunity to enjoy exclusive benefits while travelling with Qatar Airways as well as the possibility to earn Qmiles, which can be redeemed for prizes and earn Qpoints, which upgrades them to a higher tier.

The airline has already made a major investment at its hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA) to excite and inspire children. The iconic Teddy Bear lamp is a big favourite with families, as are the children’s play areas. The Al Mourjan Lounge at HIA features a Formula 1 simulator in the play area, as well as a dedicated children’s nursery. Children travelling alone also have access to a special unaccompanied minors’ lounge.

With more than 4000 entertainment options to choose from, Qatar Airways’ in-flight entertainment service, Oryx One, also features dedicated children’s channels such as Disney, Nickelodeon, the Cartoon Network, Baraaem and Jeem, to keep the kids happy throughout the flight. Family-friendly movies shown on board include A Wrinkle in Time, Peter Rabbit, Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave and The Bold, LEGO Scooby-Doo! Haunted Hollywood, among many others.

The airline has received several prestigious awards in the last year, including “Airline of the Year” at the prestigious 2017 Skytrax World Airline Awards, which was held at the Paris Air Show. This is the fourth time that Qatar Airline has been given this global recognition. In addition to being voted the World’s Best Airline, the company also won a number of other awards at the ceremony, including “Best Airline in the Middle East”, “Best Business Class” and “Best First Class Airline Lounge”.

Qatar Airways operates a modern fleet of over 200 aircrafts, flying to over 150 key business and leisure destinations globally through its hub, Hamad International Airport in Doha. Cebu and Davao in the Philippines, Langkawi in Malaysia and Da Nang in Vietnam are some of the new destinations the company is planning to launch in the 2018-2019 season.
