The 2015 edition brings the vibrant artistic creation of Colombia as guest country, new trends in Europe and America, new talent… An annual appointment with the art world that you cannot miss!
The International Contemporary Art Fair ARCOmadrid meets – from February 25 to March 1 – a total of 212 galleries from 30 countries. The General Program will host 160; from the guest country, Colombia, come 10; At the Opening section will be 22; and, 24 for SoloProjects.
In this 34th edition the presence of foreign galleries has increased, especially from Europe and Latin America, which consolidates Spain as a bridge between the two continents. “A fact – explains Carlos Urroz, director of ARCO – we have reinforced the choice of Colombia as guest country. It will be an important event, because it’s been eight years since another Latin America country was a guest at the art fair, (Brazil, in 2008).”
Attention to the selection of 20 Colombian creators made by the curator of the Berlin Biennale, Juan A. Gaitán. Also it is worth to visit the work of the famous artist Oscar Murillo, who will attend the Opening section and deferent events around town. Carlos Urroz said that this year has increased the number of galleries that “bring only one or two artists, so visitors have the possibility to learn more about their art. It is a point of differentiation with other fairs.” And one last recommendation: “The sculpture has evolved a lot and need to rediscover, as exciting emerging across the Atlantic.”
