Cuban music couldn’t be more in fashion. There have always been classic and featured artists who crossed borders. However, today traditional sounds are mixed with rock, hip-hop or reggaeton to result in more international rhythms.

In fact, the group ‘Gente de Zona’ was very successful in 2015 with their theme ‘ La Gozadera’. They hold the number 1 position in our classification.

1. Gente de zona

No doubt their tune ‘La Gozadera’ is the song of the summer, at least in Spain. Created in 2000, Gente de Zona attract younger audience by combining the traditional Cuban sounds like merengue with reggaeton. They have collaborated with Enrique Iglesias, Marc Anthony and Juan Magán, among others. They also won three Latin Grammy awards in 2004 thanks to the well known ‘Bailando’ performed by Enrique Iglesias.

2. Leoni Torres

He is one of the most important figures of Cuban music and also stands out as a composer, comedian and dancer. He went through the Charanga Habanera and is noted for its romantic tunes rather than the upbeat ones. He also composes. Gente de Zona are soon to release one of his songs.

3. Alexander Abreu y Havana D’Primera

Abreu is considered one of the best Cuban trumpet players, also noteworthy for being among the best vocalists and songwriters. He is one of the most versatile musicinas, combining salsa, jazz and funk, among other styles.

4. Los Desiguales

They stand out for their reggeaton and have a huge following among the young audience. They are a strong exponent of the so called ‘urban genre,’ with predictions of a great international projection.

5. Yoyo Ibarra

He is the youngest and most “alternative” among the five what makes him a favorite among the youth. Born in 1989, he has a powerful musical presence thanks to the mixture of Cuban touch with electronic music, rock, son, bolero and trova.
